About Akron Smiles Dental Center

Akron Smiles Dental Center sits on East Exchange Street near the University of Akron campus, running a family practice that treats patients across a wide age range under one roof. Rather than sending you between offices for every separate concern, the practice handles routine checkups, restorative repairs, and cosmetic requests through the same team, keeping your history in one place instead of scattered across referrals. That kind of continuity suits a student near campus just as well as a parent scheduling the whole family.

Cleanings and fillings cover everyday maintenance, catching tooth decay early, while root canal treatment addresses an infected or inflamed nerve inside a tooth, saving it rather than pulling it. When a tooth can't be saved, extractions are handled on-site, and crowns or bridges rebuild what's missing after -- a crown caps a weakened tooth, a bridge fills the gap left by one that's gone. Gum disease treatment targets inflammation along the gumline before it reaches the bone underneath. For patients who also want the cosmetic side handled in the same visit, teeth whitening and cosmetic dentistry sit alongside the clinical services, and emergency dentistry covers pain or trauma that can't wait for a scheduled slot.

If a filling has cracked, a gum won't stop aching, or a chipped tooth from a weekend accident needs a look before Monday, the emergency option here means you're not stuck waiting it out at home.

Cost depends heavily on what's actually needed -- a routine cleaning and a root canal followed by a crown sit at very different price points, and the affordable dental care tag is worth testing against your own case by asking directly what a specific procedure runs before you commit to anything. The East Exchange Street address, a short walk from campus, makes this a practical choice if your daily routine already puts you near the university. Between the preventive, restorative, and cosmetic work handled under one practice, most dental needs -- short of a true specialist referral -- can likely be sorted without switching offices partway through.

Akron Smiles Dental Center on East Exchange Street near the University of Akron offers family dental care, cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, gum treatment, whitening, and same-day emergency visits for all ages.

The dental assistants are always nice and kind. The dentist was very quick and thorough. The wait time for our appointment was a bit long though.

Horrible dentist treated my frightened child horribly and has made her afraid of dental work even at any dentist would recommend never subjecting any child to to this treatment Update: Just watched a documentary on Paramount+ , documenting the horrific treatment. I cannot see this review Google did something to suppress it! They are still silver caping teeth that will fall out so they make $500 instead of $30 to fill! They should be shutdown for taking advantage of Medicad patients!

The staff was nice but I was there for 2 hours for a toddler teeth cleaning that took less than 10 minutes. Waited a full hour after my appointment time to even get taken back, they cleaned my kids teeth and I waited almost another half hour for the doctor to look at him for 2 seconds and send us on our way. Do not go here.

Please take into consideration before you take your children here! My kids have had routine check ups every 6 months their whole lives here up until 5 months ago. After seeking another dentist because scheduling is so complicated, wait times are insane and is far away from home we switched. WHICH IS A BLESSING! After cleaning, xrays and imaging at new dentist office, we find that my son needs 3 fillings and a root canal and my daughter needed 6 fillings due to small smiles poor imaging, them just not caring or them not having enough time to address these issues that were prolonged and never found or discussed at every 6 month cleaning......... They always said "they're good to go" everything looked fine, gave us a tooth brush and sent us on our way...... This place is so disappointing after trusting them for my kids whole youth life. DO NOT GO HERE! Go somewhere else!

I had a wonderful experience at Akron Smiles! From the moment I walked in, the entire staff was welcoming, professional, and made me feel comfortable. The office is clean, organized, and they truly care about their patients. A special shout-out to Jessy at the front desk. She was incredibly friendly, helpful, and made the check-in process smooth and stress-free. Her positive attitude and excellent customer service really stood out and set the tone for a great visit. The dental team was knowledgeable, thorough, and took the time to answer all of my questions. I highly recommend Akron Smiles to anyone looking for quality dental care and a friendly atmosphere!

My first 2 visits went great, the concerns started once my child needed to have work done. No treatment plan or next steps were discussed with me. I assumed she would just be getting fillings. They called 2 days before the appointment to reschedule and that’s when I was informed she would be sedated and metal caps would be put on. If they had read her medical records they would known she has issues with anesthesia. Also no one had given me instructions on her not eating after midnight. The receptionist than stated that I signed documents for it, which I did not. Once she realized that I hadn’t she said she would talk to the office manager and call me back. That was April 30th, they have never called me back but rescheduled her appointment. I’ve she changed pediatric dental offices.

This place used to be great but it is slowly going downhill. Appointments are being overbooked and wait times are getting egregious. My daughter had an appointment at 10:30 and we were still waiting to be see over an hour later. The waiting area was full of people also waiting and there wasn’t even enough chairs to accommodate how they overbooked. My daughter has been coming here since she was a toddler but this may be the last time we come here based on our last two experiences. They need better planning, more staff, or something because it’s getting ridiculous.
