About Canarsie Family Dentistry
Canarsie Family Dentistry sits on Flatlands Avenue in the heart of Canarsie, the southeast Brooklyn neighborhood where the residential blocks run quiet and the dental practices tend to be smaller, multi-generational, and closely tied to the families they've served for years. This is one of those — a general practice handling the everyday dental needs of the surrounding community rather than chasing specialty volume.
Cavity work makes up a routine portion of the schedule. The team uses tooth-colored composite materials by default, with single-surface and multi-surface restorations, replacement fillings when older work has failed, and the call between filling and crown when more tooth structure has been lost. Beyond fillings, services cover cleanings, exams, root canals, crowns and bridges, extractions, gum-disease screening, teeth whitening, and emergency visits. The team will be honest when a small early-stage cavity should be watched rather than drilled now — not every dark spot on an X-ray needs immediate treatment, and a practice that says so is more useful than one that fills everything visible.
If you've been told several cavities at one practice but you suspect the recommendations are aggressive, a second-opinion exam at a more conservative office gives you a comparison read on the same teeth.
Patients searching for preventive and restorative dentist in Brooklyn, family dentist in Brooklyn, or affordable family dental care in Brooklyn often choose smaller neighborhood practices when continuity and a slower visit pace matter more than volume efficiency. Plan on a thorough new-patient exam before any restorative work — full X-rays, periodontal screening, and a treatment-plan walkthrough. For Canarsie, Flatlands, and East Flatbush residents looking for a long-term family dental home that knows the community, this Flatlands Avenue practice belongs on the shortlist. Six-month recall scheduling is the strongest predictor of which patients catch problems early, and most practices will book the next visit before you leave the current one if you ask while you're checking out.
Canarsie Family Dentistry runs a Flatlands Avenue practice covering everyday general dentistry — cleanings, fillings, crowns, and routine care for families across Canarsie and East Flatbush.

Listen to the bad reviews! Just made an appt here because they were closest location to me on my insurances’ website. Weirdest dental experience in my life. Definitely trying to take advantage of patients to get them to pay out of pocket - meanwhile the office is dingy and patient rooms are not clean. Doctor had a crazy ego, didn’t even say hello or introduce himself, just started trying to sell me a procedure. I would happily pay out of pocket if the appointment wasn’t rushed, chaotic, and unclean. Hard pass.
I will NEVER come back to this dentist. If I could give this place a 0 stars, I would. Each year I come, I have to wait hours and end up going to the front desk because I haven't been seen. This dentist's office must think people have time to waste or don’t have anything to do. My last push was on June 29, 2026. My appointment was at 1:30pm. I arrived around 1:15pm, still on time. Sitting down waiting for so long, people who came after me got seen and left. Around 3:30 something, I had to go to the front desk to ask why I wasn't being seen, and they asked me a stupid question if “I left at any point,” like I know she saw me sitting in that same seat for hours. Fast forward: after being called in for an X-ray, the technician said they didn’t give her my papers. This is a different level of unprofessionalism: someone who is in charge of passing the paper to the technician is not doing their job and needs to be FIRED ASAP. This dentist will never see my face again. I blame myself for coming for so long and putting up with this crap.
Not the greatest at all . The receptionist were very rude not respectable at all with my mom. Not recommend to no one. Very high price for dentures
Worst office dentist I ever experienced I was scheduled for a root canal last minute they called me to tell me the provider doesn’t take my insurance I go ahead schedule for tooth extraction and I come today they got me 45 mins exactly to tell em they can’t do the procedure. What a waste of time
On may 15th I went in to the dentist for new Dentures, nurse took 5mins in my mouth explaining where some bone lose are which why my others Dentures fill loose. so when she was done explaining i told her I would like to do the Bone graft and have new Dentures she said okay and a lady walk in holding a iPad explaining To get started, everything will cost $6000 but I explain I have good insurance and everything was approved on but she explain She said it will only cover the labor but not the drugs so I’m not in the medical field but does numbing medication cost $6000 also only the right side had so I don’t think I need that much numbing medication
Did not like my experience here, they were so pushy about me getting Invisalign and it seemed they only cared about was money which I understand they’re running a business but patient care was not in the room, for a place that want money so bad they should learn about patient care to make a person actually want to pay out of pocket with them, and this is coming from a person working in healthcare. Did not like the lady that was dealing with payments and trying to convince me to get Invisalign( which she did a horrible job at) I was already considering getting braces so for them to try to convince me and fail miserably at it is bad because I was already gonna get it anyways so much convincing wasn’t needed but that’s how poor of a job they did Also did not like the girl that did my “deep cleaning” which is them just brushing ur teeth she was hurting me and did not give a damn I won’t recommend this place
Been a pt here for years, staff will have you waiting for hours for a 10 min cleaning, will tell you to get cosmetics done for thousands of dollars if you don't need it, and you will have to talk to so many people to remind them that you are here for a service..... and the rating for the building is a F. Not worth $5,000 for any service. Had two dentists not even clean my teeth and one of them telling me to get braces but says my teeth are fine.... make that make sense real quick.
This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a dental office. I had an 11:30 a.m. appointment, but I wasn’t seen until 1:20 p.m. — almost two hours later. When I was finally taken in, the assistant only brushed my teeth and removed some plaque. When I asked about flossing and the other usual cleaning steps I’ve received at other dental offices, I was told that those services are considered “deep cleaning.” I have never experienced that before at any other dentist. I then asked to speak with the lead doctor. She did address my concerns and told the assistant to complete the cleaning; however, her attitude came across as dismissive and unprofessional. This was my first time going there, and it will definitely be my last. If you’d like it a little stronger or more direct, I can adjust the tone further.
