My own history in dentistry began when I qualified in 1989 from Leeds Dental School , winning two clinical prizes and a place as House Surgeon, where I undertook further training as junior staff on Consultant clinics. This was a great foundation for my later career and I learned a lot and grew in confidence, but I eventually found the Hospital environment a little stifling and headed out into General Practice Six years working in Warrington and Wigan as an Associate was enough for me, and I opened my first Practice in 1997 in Chester. This grew well and in 2007 I opened the second Northgate Dental Health in Chester which many of you may remember. This Practice was sold in 2014, and I have now found the ideal environment in which to create a new approach to providing dental care for our patients. Many of my patients will know about my occasionally dodgy old leg, which has caused a few problems over the years. This led me to spend some quality time with my wonderful Physio, Gary Bissell, and while tying me up in knots, the smalltalk drifted on to his lovely building. Gary and his wife Jane have been friends for many years, and we were at the opening of Prophysio in 2002. I have always admired the clinic, and the way Gary and his team have grown and developed over the years, so when Gary told me he was planning to extend the building to provide space for a multidisciplinary paramedical “ polyclinic” I immediately realised the potential to create something a little special. The setting is ideal, with plenty of private parking and with easy access from the adjacent A55, and the suite of rooms we have created has been carefully designed to make the patient journey as relaxing as possible, while the “ behind the scenes “ areas make crucial aspects such as instrument processing and sterilisation as simple and unobtrusive as possible. I must admit to being a bit obsessed with instrument sterility and validation, and for anyone interested there is an explanation of our process within this pack / website. Clinically, we offer General Dentistry along with endodontics ( root canal ), advanced reconstructive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implants ( surgical and restorative ) and advanced prosthetics ( dentures are sometimes sadly unavoidable, but they can be made much more acceptable using a series of precision attachments and techniques.
