About Wakim Cosmetic and Family Dental Group

Wakim Cosmetic and Family Dental Group is a Wichita practice on North Woodchuck Street that sees the whole family in one office, rather than sending parents to one dentist and kids to another. That arrangement suits households that would rather book a Saturday morning and get everyone's cleaning done at once than juggle two separate dental relationships across town and two separate sets of paperwork. The practice covers both cosmetic work for adults and standard pediatric dentistry for kids, under the same roof, the same scheduling system, and — for many families — the same recall reminder.

For families researching a children's dentist in Wichita accepting Medicaid, or an emergency child dentist for an after-hours toothache, the practice folds pediatric visits into its broader family dentistry offering — cleanings, fillings, sealants, and same-day care for a dental emergency, whether that's a child or an adult in pain, even when it means squeezing in a same-day slot. On the cosmetic side, the practice also handles the kind of whitening and restorative work adults typically come in for once the kids' appointments are squared away. Having both under one practice cuts down on separate paperwork and separate offices to track.

If you'd rather book one family dental practice for both the kids' routine cleanings and your own cosmetic work than manage two separate offices across town, this fits.

Insurance and Medicaid participation are worth confirming directly with the office, since accepted plans can change and aren't always listed in full online ahead of a first call. For a Wichita family juggling different dental needs across parents and kids, consolidating everyone under one practice can simplify scheduling meaningfully, even if it isn't the deciding factor on its own. It's a reasonable option for households that want general, cosmetic, and pediatric dentistry handled by one team, working from one shared record, rather than split across three separate practices across town and three separate billing cycles.

Wakim Cosmetic and Family Dental Group is a Wichita practice offering general and cosmetic dentistry alongside pediatric visits, fillings, and emergency dental care for the whole family under one roof.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr.Wakim and his entire staff. They are, without question, the best dental office I could recommend.Dr Wakim is incredibly attentive, genuinely cares about his patients, and always takes the time to remember who you are. One thing the has really stood out to me is something he says often:”If you’re in pain, we’ll stop and take care of that before we move on. You shouldn’t have to be in pain.” That level of compassion and concern means a great deal to me,and I know it would to anyone. His staff is equally outstanding. Every person I’ve met has been kind, professional, welcoming and truly committed to making each visit as comfortable as possible.I’ve been undergoing extensive dental work, and every visit has reinforced that I made the right choice. If you or someone you know is looking for a dentist who genuinely cares about their patients and provides exceptional care, I highly recommend Dr. Wakim and his team. You won’t find a better dentist office. Scott Bahruth

I first came to get help here because I had cracked a tooth. It took several appointments and ended with needing a root canal. During a visit, I do recall signing some paperwork that stated roughly how much the total would be and agreeing to the price. When I had the second root canal done, I called Wakim to see if I could go ahead and just get my cap put in right then since I was already numb and it shouldn’t be a long procedure. I explained that I had literally just finished getting my root canal and they said it wouldn’t be a problem and then I could go ahead and come on in because they had an appointment available in 15 minutes. I came in, I was greeted, I sat and waited and then was brought back. Once I got back in the room, I was told that I actually couldn’t get a cap put on that day because they like to give it 10 to 14 days once you’ve had a root canal to make sure there are no issues from the root canal. That totally makes sense, but couldn’t this have been addressed over the phone or when I entered rather than having me waste another 45 minutes? When I made an appointment for the next time, I came in and was told I had not standing balance of over $500. I was told that I would not be able to get any dental work done until the balance was completely paid. This was never something that I had been made aware of, so I asked if I could do some sort of partial payment to which they responded. They would have to check with Dr Wakim. I waited, my appointment time came and went, they told me they were extremely backed up, even though I was literally the only one in the waiting room, I waited another 15 minutes and then I finally said I had to leave because my kids were only with a babysitter for an hour and a half. I wasted 45 minutes. I caught a couple of days later to make a partial payment, they told me they couldn’t do a partial payment. I said I couldn’t pay over $500 in one go, so I hung up. It literally took calling somewhere between seven and 10 times and me telling them that it was either a partial payment or nothing that they would get for me in order for me to be able to make a partial payment. As someone who lives paycheck to paycheck, that is ridiculous. Please do better. Next time made an appointment, it was to have my crown put on. I tried to ask several different times over several calls over several days if I would need to be numbed for this because if so, I wanted to make sure to eat lunch prior to my appointment and if not, then I was fine eating later since it was something around 10:30 or 11 o’clock. Nobody was able to give me a straight answer, they told me maybe, and that it could take anywhere from 40 1:55 hours. I find it extremely hard to believe that there’s no general idea. I get that not everything is a one size fit all situation, but you think that they would be able to say in general most people don’t need to get numbed unless you’re in pain and that it takes 45 minutes to an hour typically. When I finally came in, I was brought back and the hygienist saw me and checked everything out and she said she’s going to go get the crown and then she’s out there and I hear her talking to somebody else saying she can’t find my crown. They don’t know where it went. The conversation went back-and-forth for several minutes and she was gone for 10 to 15 minutes. When she came back, she did thankfully have my crown and they were able to put it on. The appointment did take almost 2 hours. They also failed to tell me that the x-ray that they took after my root canal would be an additional cost. They said it was something Insurance needed, but didn’t tell me until two months afterward. I received a bill and then got a phone call saying I had outstanding balance that was different than the amount texted to me. I called and was informed that was the X-ray. Do better. Be able to answer questions fully. Give itemized bills. Allow partial payments.

For anyone needing dental work of any kind I recommend Wakim Dental. The dental assistants know their jobs and do it with precision. Dr Wakim (Sr) is very thorough and informative, he is kind hearted and wants the best for you and makes a plan of what all you need to do to give you healthy teeth. A new addition to their office is Dr Hannigan. She was very attentive and was very gentle with doing my fillings. Thank you each and every one of the Drs, dental assistants, hygienists and the staff for making my dental experience pleasant. I will be back!

From walking in, the receptionists were super friendly and welcoming. Had the pleasure to work with Dr. A. Wakim & Dr. Nguyen. But for me stole the show was Karina and Benny. They really cared how I felt and help me be calm throughout my process. Will definitely be back. They make coming to the dentist not scary! Thank you!
